This Privacy Policy explains how Deep Woods Software (“Deep Woods Software,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information in connection with our websites and applications, including our app Byteless. By using our services, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to operate our services:

Account information — when you sign in to an app, we receive your email address and basic profile information from your chosen sign-in provider (for example, Apple or Google), and a display name you set.
Purchase information — when you buy or gift something, our payment providers process the transaction and share a record of the purchase with us. We do not receive or store your full card number.
Gift-recipient contact information — if you send a gift, you may provide the recipient’s email address or mobile phone number so we can deliver the gift on your chosen date. You provide this on the recipient’s behalf and confirm they are willing to receive it.
Basic technical information — like any web service, our hosting providers process standard request data (such as IP address and device/browser type) to deliver content and keep the service secure. Our marketing website uses no analytics or advertising trackers.

How we use information

To provide, operate, and maintain our apps and services.
To process purchases and deliver gifts you send.
To send transactional messages you or a sender have asked us to send.
To secure our services and prevent fraud and abuse.
To comply with legal obligations.

SMS / text messaging

Byteless can deliver a gift by text message. Our SMS practices:

What we send. A single, one-time transactional text containing a link to redeem a gift. This is not marketing, and we do not send recurring or promotional texts.
How consent is obtained. Consent is captured in the Byteless app at gift checkout. The person sending the gift enters the recipient’s mobile number and must tick an explicit, unchecked-by-default consent box confirming the recipient agreed to receive a one-time text with a link to claim the gift. The box reads: “I confirm my recipient is happy to get one text from Byteless (by Deep Woods Software) with a link to claim this gift. One message only — no marketing. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”
Message frequency. One message per gift.
Cost. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
Opt-out and help. You can reply STOP to a message to opt out of further messages at any time, or reply HELP for help. You may also contact us at the address below.
Carrier note. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We do not sell or share your information for marketing. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. In particular, mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in information are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and are not sold under any circumstances.

Service providers

We share information only with the vendors that help us run the service, and only as needed to provide it. These providers are bound by their own privacy and security obligations, and we do not permit them to use your information for their own marketing. They include:

Stripe — payment processing.
RevenueCat — in-app purchase management.
Supabase — application database and backend hosting.
Amazon Web Services (Amazon SNS) — sending SMS messages.
Resend — sending email messages.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and our services.

Data retention

We keep information only as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business or legal purposes, then delete or anonymize it. Gift-delivery contact details are retained only as long as needed to deliver the gift and keep a basic record of the transaction.

Your choices and rights

You can opt out of texts at any time by replying STOP. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing us at the address below, and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Children’s privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and limit access to it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
